This conceptual installation entitled Breastplate, asks us to contemplate female power in patriarchal societies and traditions in the sacred feminine.
This works celebrates the ancient tradition of goddess based worship, that pre-existed patriarchal religion and is still practiced today. This practice honors and reveres the earths cyclical nature, the power, sexuality, creativity and life force of feminine power. It feels particularly poignant at this time, when humanity seems so disconnected and at odds with the tradition of the goddess.
By creating a safe space to hear women’s stories, Rachel has created armored breastplates us, symbolizing and giving voice to the heroism of women. These warrior women have given powerful testimony and voice to their collective experiences, in their breastplates, in written narrative and in spoken word.
The breastplates are displayed as an empowering collective, together with installations that encapsulate the sacred, creative energies of the sacred feminine.
Together with haunting song and elemental sound, Rachel hopes to create an experience to be remembered.
