ROOM 107 | NEWHAMPTON ARTS CENTRE | DUNKLEY STREET |
WOLVERHAMPTON | WV1 4AN |
15 September ❘ 7 - 9pm
Theoretical Tuesday aims to demystify a range of theoretical texts in a relaxing and friendly manner that enables all members of the session to participate and share thoughts and experiences pertinent to each subject matter.
We have selected subjects that we find interesting and diverse so that they will be interesting to a wide scope of people and can be read within one sitting, we encourage people to read the text prior to your chosen session(s) so as everyone can engage in the discussion
The fourth text in this series is: The Precession
of simulacra by Jean Baudrillard. This text explores the relationship between symbols and reality. More precisely, it examines how such ‘symbols’ both facilitate and, in turn, mask the absence of an objective reality. Moreover, this text also outlines the concept of Hyperreality, whereby individual conscious minds are unable, or even unwilling, to distinguish fully between reality and its simulation.
We hope that you can join us for an interesting debate over a glass of wine and nibbles please feel free to bring your own tipple.
